Halloween Party

I went through some of our Halloween decorations last night. Having a 7 year old is a great excuse to decorate early!

Illustration

I was going through some of my work and realised that I have not posted any of my illustrations! I went to college in NY at the University of Buffalo and Daemen College. My degree was in Art education with a minor in Illustration.

Here is a design I did for the Virginia Beach Public Schools "Kindergarten Folder".

It is done in colored pencil.

The Pumpkin Man

He was so much fun to make. I embroidered his little leaves and then desided he needed some leaf shoes.



I have so many Halloween and fall ideas, but so little time now that school has started.

I am also making some little fall mini quilt sqaures. I plan to list them this weekend.

Halloween is coming!

I spent my free time making up some new designs today. I just love Halloween. The colors are so much fun. The joy that it brings to the faces of our little ones. I have some new pumpkin people coming up next week.
I need to get more designs sewn. I feel like I have been doing less creating since school started.

Well, I have about one more hour left before I go to sleep. Back to work!

Sunday Night

I know it's strange, but I like Sunday nights. Most people are dreading the Monday morning blues. I like to get everything organized and ready for the coming week. I got my daughters lunch ready, clothes are out and now I have time to relax with my husband and enjoy the evening.

Jeepers the Ghost

Oh, I am so excited! I finished my ghost today and listed it on My Etsy shop, http://www.mommylion.etsy.com/

He is hand made from felt, sequins,beads, embroidery threads and lot's of love.

He is about 5" tall and has three little pumpkins and a bat on his body.

I have a few new dolls in the making and will be showing a softie give away very soon...stay tuned!

Working on Softies

I survived my first week of school with students. It was actually a great week. It is amazing how inspiring their artwork can be. Some 7Th grade girls ran up to me in the hall with the most adorable drawings.

I just finished gathering all of my potted plants and putting them in the garage. We have tropical storm Hanna heading towards us. The another one coming next week.

Now all I need to do is get my daughter to bed and then, finally I can work on a ghost softie I am trying to finish and list this weekend.

French Dolly and Baby

Here is a little doll made of vintage laces and buttons. I crocheted the shawl. She is holding a little baby.

Hanna

It seems that Hanna is making its way to the coast not too far from my home in Virginia Beach. It seems she is going to be just a tropical storm...so much for a sunny weekend.

I am thinking of doing a give away contest for a softie. I haven't decided which one yet, so check back to see when!

School Days

I feel as if I am getting back on schedule as far as school goes. I have some wonderful classes. I feel very lucky to be in such a wonderful school in Virginia beach. Great kids, supportive parents, a great staff . Did I mention my husband works there too. He teaches music. It is great place to be.
My 6Th graders are starting fall landscapes. 7Th grade is learning about the Greek Olympics, and 8Th grade is getting an early start on winter landscapes.
Hope all of you are doing well. I am a little worried about hurricane Hanna. It is suppose to be here Friday night.

Monday Morning

We had my mother in law over last night and I stayed up way too late watching movies. I tried to sew while watching, but I was way to tired out. Must be the new hours I am keeping getting up for school.
