I would love your ideas and opinions!!

Here is my latest listing on my etsy shop http://www.mommylion.etsy.com

Snowball Pin

Meet snowball! She is a small 3" x 3" Snow doll pin that I have just listed on my Etsy shop at www.mommylion.etsy.com
I start all of my designs from sketches. I then stitch the face by looking at my sketch. It is like drawing with a needle and thread.
Then I create the rest of her head and hat. The beading is the fun part. I love matching the colors of my beads and sequins.
I have a few Spring designs in the making now. Come back and see them in a few days!

10 Days Till Christmas!

I am not sure how to get it all done in ten days! I haven't put the tree up yet because my in laws are coming and they have visual problems. See we have a huge 7' white tree and I am afraid it will be hard for them to get around all the decorations. So tomorrow I am going to get a small tree and put it in the corner of the family room so it is out of their way.
Last night my husband and daughter and I the Middle School chorus class to the Virginia Beach Festival of lights. http://www.beachstreetusa.com/ It was so beautiful! A full moon glowing on the ocean waves and beautiful lights wrapping the boardwalk. It would have been very romantic if we didn't have a bus of screaming kids!
Anyway, they all had a great time including hot chocolate for all that sang.

On another note, I have a small illustration of a gingerbread house that I have been sending as a small tag with all of my Etsy purchases this month. Thought you might like to see it.

Candy Cane Angel Doll

I finally finished my candy cane angel. She is all hand sewn!
I wanted to make an angel that might remind people of the importance of prayer.
She is peaceful and sweet and a perfect reminder of how lucky we all are, especially now during the holidays!
I have started some of my Spring designs and will be making an angel like this for Valentines day! Stop back soon to see her.

Holiday Fun

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Ours was packed with fun and family. We had so much food that it would not fit in the fridge! Needless to say I ate more then I should have. But it was a great time for all.
Here are some of the pictures. The little turkeys were a gift to my daughters 2ND grade class!

Living Crafts Magazine

I found a wonderful magazine today while I was suppose to be shopping for Thanksgiving dinner. It is Living Crafts, a rich mix of fiber arts, toys, candles and more. I also went to there web site at http://www.livingcrafts.com/directory.php
and found a list of several shops. one shop at www.dewitteengel.com is packed with kits, embroidery supplies and 100% wool felt. My heart jumped when I saw the felt. My little local fabric store here at the beach is no longer going to carry it.
So it looks like Thanksgiving decorating will have to wait until I get my order done. Hope they take Pay pal!!

Time to star making Christmas cookies! These are handmade and ready to go into stockings or to top a package.

My softies are all handmade. No sewing machine is used in the process. These little treats are beaded with glass beads and sequins. You can see them at my Etsy shop. They are sold with two tied together or separately. More are on the way!

Snow Dream Girl In The Making

It does not snow too often here in Virginia Beach. Living near the ocean keeps it just a little too warm to snow. I love snow! I lived in Buffalo New York for many years, so I have had my share of shoveling snow and snowball fights.

When I wanted to create a snow theme for a doll, I went to several fabric stores and fell in love with some soft flannel fabrics.

Here she is in the making...Snowflake will be in my Etsy shop soon. Stop by and have a look at what is new. http://www.mommylion.etsy.com/

Snowman pins

I finished and mailed out ten snowman pins for my Lollishop promo bags. Boy, they took a long time to finish. It was well worth it. I was very pleased with the results. What do you think?

Monday, October 20, 2008

I have spent the weekend stitching my fingers off. Taking breaks just to buy groceries and do a quick Christmas shopping run. Last week I finished my third "Dream Girl" doll. She was finished just in time to make it in the February edition of Somerset Life Magazine. It is with a group ad for the new Lollishop. She turned out beautiful. What do you think?

Halloween Doll

Boy, this doll sure took a long time to finish! There were many beading details and embellishments to complete. This is Jasper, the third of my dream girls series. She is about 12" tall and ready for Halloween fun!
You can find her at my Etsy shop.

Monday, October 6, 2008

I am working very hard developing new designs for my Lollishop opening in November. I have started some great little snowman pins. I am also going to be part of a joint ad in Somerset Life Magazine. I am making a valentine doll. She is really very detailed. Lots of pinks, roses, and sequins, of course.
Here is a little French doll named Betsy. She has a hand crocheted shawl and hand painted face.
Happy crafting!

Halloween Party

I went through some of our Halloween decorations last night. Having a 7 year old is a great excuse to decorate early!

I also listed my latest softie on my Etsy shop http://www.mommylion.etsy.com/

Illustration

I was going through some of my work and realised that I have not posted any of my illustrations! I went to college in NY at the University of Buffalo and Daemen College. My degree was in Art education with a minor in Illustration.

Here is a design I did for the Virginia Beach Public Schools "Kindergarten Folder".

It is done in colored pencil.

Enjoy!

The Pumpkin Man

I just listed my Pumpkin Man on Etsy. http://www.mommylion.etsy.com/

He was so much fun to make. I embroidered his little leaves and then desided he needed some leaf shoes.

I have so many Halloween and fall ideas, but so little time now that school has started.

I am also making some little fall mini quilt sqaures. I plan to list them this weekend.

Halloween is coming!

I spent my free time making up some new designs today. I just love Halloween. The colors are so much fun. The joy that it brings to the faces of our little ones. I have some new pumpkin people coming up next week.
I need to get more designs sewn. I feel like I have been doing less creating since school started.

Well, I have about one more hour left before I go to sleep. Back to work!

Sunday Night

I know it's strange, but I like Sunday nights. Most people are dreading the Monday morning blues. I like to get everything organized and ready for the coming week. I got my daughters lunch ready, clothes are out and now I have time to relax with my husband and enjoy the evening.

Here's to a great Monday!
