I finished this little Snow Lady pin today. She is about 4" tall and is covered in lace and beads. I had some vintage rhinestones that I added to her hat along with a little jingle bell. She is holding a baby snow boy! I have two more cut and ready to sew tonight!!
I am starting feel like I am Santa working away late into the night to get my dolls done. I just wish I had his little elves to help out, don't you?...I have so many jobs that they could do!
I have been trying to come up with new dolls for each season. I am designing Valentines and Spring right now...but I have been still adding some Christmas items to my Etsy shop.
Hope your Holidays have started off well. Here are a few new items. I wanted to make a cuff bracelet for the softie/ doll lovers. And then there is my little ice skater. I designed her after the memories of winter in Amherst NY. My dad would shovel away the snow in our backyard so that my sister & I could ice skate all day! Boy, it was so cold where we lived outside of Buffalo...but we loved it! I had a white winter snowsuit and a red hat...too cute!
I just finished a little Fairy Elf that loves to catch snowflakes in her little pink basket. She is only 5" tall from head to foot and has a little baby snow baby she keeps in her pocket. I have another one I started with little polka dots on her dress. If I can find some energy, I will finish her tonight!!
Wouldn't you just love some little helpers for the holidays? One to clean, one to cook, and don't forget the one that is designated to help with the math homework! I know I could use about five of them right now!!
So here is a little elf I created to help with the baby. She has a cute pocket to keep her in. Oh, and I added a little bell to the elf's hat so that you can always hear where she is. There are three more in the making. Visit my Etsy shop to see some more!
Just when I thought It was the beginning of Fall, I blinked and I see Christmas everywhere. I say it every year...I will be ready for Christmas early. It seems like I am never early enough with my designing!
I have tons of ideas! I sometimes wish I could employ the little elves I am designing. If they could only stay up late and sew for me! And maybe help with the cleaning also!!
I just finished a Mommy & Baby doll for a dear friend the other day. There are actually 2 dolls, one for each of her little girls. They are done in Shabby colored fabrics. The baby doll is removable...so much fun!
This is a precious a little elf for the Holidays. Most of the ones I was planning to make are for Christmas, but this little girl is for Fall!
I just love all the rich Fall fabrics this year. They are a wonderful pallet of falling leaves and pumpkin shades! I especially like the polka dotted fabric I used on her dress. I added a maze colored print for a collar and topped it with a vintage lace ruffle. Then a satin black bow, of course!
I wanted to create a fun, cottage like Haunted House that could hang on any door. I started with a plain piece of felt. I did a drawing of the design I wanted. Next I started making the different parts such as the door, ghost, bat, and my favorite thing...the tree with the little stuffed owl! Hope you enjoy the pictures!
How is it that the weekends go so fast? I blinked and it was Monday. I was able to at least organize my materials and cut fabrics for a few orders this weekend. But it went way too fast. It is finally cooling down a bit here at the beach. I just can't take those 95 degree days for long. Being from N.Y. I guess I could never get used to the high humidity and temps. Trust me I do not want the kind of cold weather we had in Buffalo where I grew up! But a nice cool day is great when we can sit outside without melting.
So this weekend when Katie was playing, I sat and worked on this little kitty & Pumpkin necklace.
Well, tomorrow the students are back to school. Teachers were back last week in Virginia Beach. We have classes to take, classrooms to set up, and copies to make. It is a lot of work. I am all ready, except for a few seating charts I will finish tonight when my daughter goes to bed. It was a strange summer, good, but strange! I was on a few textbook committees, I had a class to take. Then our air conditioner died, my car battery died, I broke my Blackberry...it was odd! I did not rest and sleep in. I got up and worked on my dolls and my Etsy shop. When I got back in the classroom last week, it felt good. I felt back on schedule. It will most likely change tomorrow and I will wish we were back at the beach! I had a wonderful time with my husband and daughter. We had so much fun together all summer. It will be hard to see her walk into her 3rd grade classroom tomorrow morning...where did my baby go???? And my husband will be at another school for part of the day this year. (We have worked together for ten years). So there are adjustments to make, but I am excited to see those smiling faces, well most of them at least. I teach art, and it is Middle school, but most of them smile! So I am off to Fall...here are some last minute photos of what I am working on and me and my cat Macy. Happy Fall everyone!
It's that time again. Hard to believe it, but I go back to work/ school tomorrow! So I just have to list some fall items I have been working on. There is such a rich feeling to Fall colors. I took out all of my Fall magazines (And I have a ton of them)! I like to look through magazines to get myself in the mood to design. It is sometimes hard to design for the holidays when it is 95 degrees here in Virginia Beach!
So here are a few Fall friends for you to enjoy. All of them are at my Etsy shop...and a new Witch is on the way!
This always happens to me!!! I have about three weeks left before school starts and I get really busy with orders. I LOVE IT!!! It is so much fun to line up my projects. I actually cut all the fabrics out and put them in zip lock bags. I label them by due dates. Then I can grab a bag and my sewing basket and head out to wherever the family wants to go. I did Chucky Cheese yesterday...the moms must have thought I was CRAZY!! But my little Katie played in the maze area, and I could sit right at the opening and watch her have fun! NICE!!
So, I have an ETSY friend http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5539002 who has been in Somerset Magazine and the sister magazines several times. She has encouraged me to send in some work. So I made this Angel and I am sending her in! You must stop by Your Angil's shop at the link above. If you are looking for unique tags, supplies and fun stuff in general...you will love it!!
I almost forgot to add a new Mommy & baby Doll set to my post. This is a new design I made recently. I am thinking of making a larger one with the mommy having three pockets with a baby in each. I think that would be fun for a little girl to play with. My daughter is 8 years old now and I can't get this one away from her!
Where is the summer going? It has been a strange, but fun summer for us. First the air conditioner broke. Then I needed a new car battery...things just have not been running very smoothly! Also, we have had a ton of rain and very heavy storms here in Virginia Beach...not our normal weather.
But, through it all I have been stitching away. I wanted to make some small little softies that could be made as ornaments, or pins, or just for fun collecting.
I had ordered some soft blue batting with Angelina...Ohhh, it is too pretty! So I made some wonderful fairies to flutter around!
I have also made a few Kitty party favors. They are so sweet. I love their little faces! See what you think.
This was just so much fun to make!! I found a beautiful fabric at a local shop here at the beach. http://www.whatsyourstitchnstuff.com/ Oh, I had too much fun!!
The fabric is full of bra and pantie designs. So I cut them out and embellished them. Then I made a felt base and sewed on the pins. I have 4 more that I want to work on tonight. As soon as my daughter gets to sleep I will be back to work.
My husbands band is playing tonight...so I can have a little time to myself to work. Have a great weekend everyone!
Here is a little doll that would just love to join you while you water your plants! She is about 6" tall made from moss colored felt. She is hand sewn from my own sketch. Her flowers are sewn around her embroidered and beaded face. I put her on my door wreath and she looked adorable! See what you think.
Monkeys just seem to be on my mind lately! I have 2 new plush designs. Here is a finished one I just put in the shop. She has bendable arms and a bendable tail. Boy did she take a while to hand sew...all those curves!
Next I started the guitar favors for my daughters birthday party...just a few days away! I really like how they look. The photo does not do them justice. What do you think?
